Mumbai: Businessman ‘killer’ nabbed after 500-metre chase

MUMBAI: Two days after a businessman was murdered in Andheri, Nadeem Shaikh (30) was arrested from a slum in Govandi after a dramatic chase.
On seeing the cops, Nadeem, who was playing carrom on the first floor of a house, jumped off. Four crime branch cops jumped from the first floor and chased Nadeem, who suffered a leg injury. He was caught after a half kilometre chase, said senior inspector Mahesh Desai of crime branch.
Police said Nadeem was hired by Abdul Latif alias Sonu Shaikh (38), who has been arrested.Latif had allegedly given a contract to Nadeem to kill businessman Abdul Munaf Sheikh (55) on the instructions of some persons, one of whom is a builder.
The probe into the case has been transferred to the crime branch. Latif was produced in the Andheri court, which has remanded him in police custody till August 28.
